Watch a ‘Lois Choice’ peony bud unfurl and you’ll understand why gardeners come back to this hybrid season after season. What begins as a tight, rose-shaped bud opens into a generous double bloom — six to eight inches wide — that layers peach and pink at the outer petals, softens to cream at the center, then circles back to warm peach and pink again. It’s the kind of color story that stops you mid-garden path.
Growing to a tidy 20–25 inches tall, this hybrid peony (Paeonia hybrid) fits beautifully in perennial borders or as a cut flower centerpiece. Plant your bareroot division in full sun with well-drained soil, water deeply but infrequently once established, and expect it to return reliably for decades. Each bareroot includes approximately five or more eyes; 5/8 divisions ship first when available, followed by 3/5. All orders ship in fall for spring blooming.
A lasting investment in your garden’s most anticipated season.
🍂 Shipping & planting window
Peonies ship in fall (September–November) when fully dormant and bare root. This is the only window we ship.
Fall planting gives roots a full season to establish in warm soil before winter. Cold stratification triggers strong, healthy spring growth and reliable bloom production. Spring-shipped peonies experience root damage during active growth, transplant shock during their bloom cycle, and often lose an entire growing season.
