Swe Mad breaks the hybrid tea mould. Instead of tight high-centred flowers it produces large, cupped, old-fashioned blooms carrying 35 or more petals, quartered as they open. The colour is the talking point: peachy pink to apricot, paling in summer heat and deepening to a vibrant rose pink as temperatures cool, so the same plant reads differently across the season. The fragrance is exceptionally strong — sweet, fresh and fruity, powerful enough to carry across a garden and to hold up indoors once cut. Long, sturdy stems and a dependable vase life make it a genuine cutting rose rather than a garden rose that merely tolerates the vase. Growth is upright and vigorous, reaching five to six feet, with dark green semi-glossy foliage and exceptional disease resistance. Repeat flowering from summer into fall. Full sun, six hours minimum, in well-drained slightly acidic soil. This is a 2–3 year old plant that has already bloomed, so you’re not waiting seasons to see what you’ve got. Growing 9–24″ now with a medium growth rate, it repeats from spring through fall. Plant it where it receives full sun and water frequently — roses reward consistency. Fertilize with rabbit, composted chicken, or horse manure each spring and fall to keep bloom cycles strong. What makes this one worth knowing: it’s self-fertile and genuinely welcomes bees, butterflies, ladybugs, and lacewings, making it a living part of your garden ecosystem rather than just a showpiece. No invasiveness concerns, not toxic to pets or people, and it comes ready to plant with soil included.
