📦 Shipping schedulePeonies ship fall only, September through November, while fully dormant and bare root — this is the only window we ship. Fall planting lets roots establish before winter for strong spring bloom. Local pickup is available upon request. Your cart and order confirmation will identify the shipping schedule for each item. Ready-to-ship and seasonal-shipping items may be split into separate orders.
🌱 Live plant noticePlants are living, perishable goods and may arrive dormant or experience normal transit stress — leaf drop, yellowing, temporary wilting, cosmetic damage, or soil displacement. These conditions do not necessarily mean a plant is dead.
📄 All sales finalAll sales are final except where a seller expressly states otherwise in the individual listing, a verified dead-on-arrival claim qualifies under the Live Plant Policy, or a refund is required by applicable law.

There’s a moment every spring gardener lives for — and with Ink Crown (Mo Guan Yu Zhu), it arrives in deep violet-black blooms so richly pigmented they seem to absorb the light around them. This Rockii tree peony produces spectacular 7-inch flowers with that signature dark, moody coloring that makes it one of the most sought-after varieties for Northwest gardens.

You’ll receive a dormant bareroot plant, 2–3 years old with 2–3 branches, shipped in fall when the peony is naturally at rest. This timing matters: fall planting lets roots settle into warm soil before winter, triggering the cold stratification that produces stronger growth and more reliable blooms come spring.

Plant in partial shade with fertile, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil. Water moderately during establishment, keeping soil evenly moist but never soggy. In colder winters, a light layer of mulch protects the crown. Hardy in USDA zones 4–9, this deciduous shrub reaches around 3 feet tall in its first growing season.

Local pickup available upon request.

🍂 Shipping & planting window

Peonies ship in fall (September–November) when fully dormant and bare root.

Fall planting gives roots a full season to establish in warm soil before winter. Cold stratification triggers strong, healthy spring growth and reliable bloom production. Spring-shipped peonies experience root damage during active growth, transplant shock during their bloom cycle, and often lose an entire growing season.
