Few flowers stop people mid-stride the way a Rockii tree peony does in full bloom. Spring Mist (Su Di Chun Xiao) opens enormous 7-inch blossoms in soft white with deep magenta flares at the base — petals so silky they look almost painted. This is one of the most celebrated Rockii varieties, prized for its cold hardiness and refined beauty.
You’ll receive a dormant bareroot plant, 2–3 years old with 2–3 established branches. Expect plants to arrive 10–25 inches tall; with a full growing season, they’ll reach around 3 feet by spring.
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Give it partial shade, moderate consistent moisture during establishment, and a light mulch layer in colder winters. Hardy in USDA zones 4–9, it handles cold beautifully — just avoid waterlogged soil.
Rockii tree peonies ship dormant and bareroot each fall (September–November), the only window that gives roots time to anchor before winter and bloom reliably come spring. Local pickup available upon request.
🍂 Shipping & planting window
Peonies ship in fall (September–November) when fully dormant and bare root.
Fall planting gives roots a full season to establish in warm soil before winter. Cold stratification triggers strong, healthy spring growth and reliable bloom production. Spring-shipped peonies experience root damage during active growth, transplant shock during their bloom cycle, and often lose an entire growing season.
