Come spring, expect it to reach around three feet, eventually maturing into a long-lived woody shrub that returns reliably each year. Flowers reach an impressive 20 cm (nearly 8 inches) across. Hardy in USDA zones 4–9, it handles cold beautifully — just mulch lightly in your coldest months and keep it out of waterlogged soil.
