Contorted mulberry, the Japanese selection Unryu. A small deciduous tree grown for its twisting, zigzag branches, which show best in winter once the large glossy leaves have dropped. It is self-fertile and carries small sweet black mulberries in summer, usually within two to three years of planting. Happy in half-day to full sun and any well-drained soil, cold hardy, and easy to keep compact with pruning.

Nursery stock varies naturally in shape and branching — each plant is an individual, and yours will not be identical to any photograph.
