Fargesia rufa ‘Green Panda’

Low, fountaining and tough. Rusty-red sheaths, fine foliage, and the most shade- and cold-forgiving of the group. Good as a low hedge or a large container.

Clumping bamboo. Expands slowly outward from the crown rather than running. No barrier needed. It widens a few inches a year, so leave room and you can otherwise forget about it.

Mature height: 8-10 ft. Habit: Clumping. Grown in the Pacific Northwest by Cascade Gardens.
