Gab Oak bears many-petalled rosette blooms in a striking deep pink, the outer petals paling slightly as the flower ages. Petal counts run past a hundred on blooms roughly three and a half to four inches across, and the fragrance is strong and fruity with blackberry notes. Buds open bright red before revealing the deep pink interior, borne in clusters rather than singly. Flowering starts a little later than most — early summer — then continues in flushes through to mid autumn. The shrub is vigorous and forms a shapely rounded mound about four feet in each direction, with mulberry-purple stems, flame-red growth tips, and dark green foliage that emerges burgundy in spring. Disease resistance is excellent. Full sun and well-drained soil, though it tolerates partial shade better than most English roses. Compact enough for a large container, and effective planted in threes as a low hedge. This is a 2–3 year old plant that has already bloomed, so you’re not waiting seasons to see what you’ve got. Growing 9–24″ now with a medium growth rate, it repeats from spring through fall. Plant it where it receives full sun and water frequently — roses reward consistency. Fertilize with rabbit, composted chicken, or horse manure each spring and fall to keep bloom cycles strong. What makes this one worth knowing: it’s self-fertile and genuinely welcomes bees, butterflies, ladybugs, and lacewings, making it a living part of your garden ecosystem rather than just a showpiece. No invasiveness concerns, not toxic to pets or people, and it comes ready to plant with soil included.
