You’ll hear them before you see them — Golden Penciled Hamburg chicks arrive with a personality as sharp as their striking plumage. This rare European breed carries intricate golden feathering penciled in dark, lustrous markings that mature into something genuinely beautiful. They’re active and curious birds, best suited to experienced backyard keepers who appreciate a flock with a little independence.
Hamburgs are consistent white-egg layers known for efficiency and hardiness in free-range or large-run settings. Plan for birds that move — they’re flighty by nature and thrive with space to express it.
Available February through early July, chicks ship via USPS Priority Mail (typically 2–3 business days) from our hatchery partner, with limited regional door-to-door delivery in parts of the Midwest. Order minimums apply by season: 25 chicks January–March, 15 in April, 6 in May–September. Live Arrival and 48-Hour Livability guaranteed — report any concerns by phone within 48 hours of arrival. Have your brooder fully set up before they land.
All live-animal sales are final once fulfillment is booked.
