The Melanistic Mutant is a dark colour variant of the ringneck pheasant. The plumage reads black in shade and shows green and purple iridescence in direct sunlight, in contrast to the standard ringneck pattern. The variety is kept for ornamental flocks, breeding pens, and hunting preserve release. Chicks are hatchery-sourced and require a fully set up, heated brooder running before arrival.
Minimum order 30 chicks. Availability runs April through July. Birds ship via USPS Priority Mail, typically 2–3 business days, with limited regional door-to-door delivery in parts of the Midwest.
