There’s something quietly breathtaking about a bloom that stops you mid-step — and Radiance (Ri Yue Tong Hui) does exactly that. This Rockii Tree Peony (Paeonia rockii) opens to wide, luminous flowers measuring nearly 8 inches across, with petals that seem to hold their own soft light. The name translates to “sun and moon shining together,” and once you see it in bloom, that feels exactly right.
You’ll receive a dormant bareroot plant, 2–3 years old with 2–3 established branches, arriving in fall when transplant success is highest. Give it a spot with partial shade, fertile and well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH, and moderate, even moisture during establishment — never waterlogged, especially in winter. A light layer of mulch in colder areas helps it settle in comfortably. Hardy through USDA zones 4–9, it will reach around 3 feet by its first active spring.
Fall shipping runs September through November. Local pickup is available year-round in Bellevue, WA.
🍂 Shipping & planting window
Peonies ship in fall (September–November) when fully dormant and bare root. This is the only window we ship.
Fall planting gives roots a full season to establish in warm soil before winter. Cold stratification triggers strong, healthy spring growth and reliable bloom production. Spring-shipped peonies experience root damage during active growth, transplant shock during their bloom cycle, and often lose an entire growing season.
