Your bareroot plant ships dormant in fall (September–November), 2–3 years old with 2–3 branches. Fall planting is ideal: roots settle into warm soil before winter, and cold stratification triggers the strong spring emergence Rockii peonies are known for. Expect about 3 feet of new growth in your first spring season.
Care is straightforward. Plant in partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil that leans neutral to slightly alkaline. Water moderately during establishment — evenly moist, never waterlogged. In colder climates, a light layer of mulch over winter is all it needs. Hardy in zones 4–9.
