Fargesia scabrida ‘Asian Wonder’

Orange-red culm sheaths against blue-green canes, ageing to olive. Narrow leaves, arching habit, and better heat tolerance than most fargesias.

Clumping bamboo. Expands slowly outward from the crown rather than running. No barrier needed. It widens a few inches a year, so leave room and you can otherwise forget about it.

Mature height: 12-16 ft. Habit: Clumping. Grown in the Pacific Northwest by Cascade Gardens.
