There’s something electric about the moment a box of California Valley Quail chicks (Callipepla californica) arrives — tiny, spirited, and already full of personality. These hatchery-sourced gamebirds are a natural fit for backyard flocks, homesteads, and dedicated breeding pens, bringing a distinctive Western character to your setup.
**What to know before they arrive:** A proper brooder must be ready before your chicks ship. California Valley Quail are active, quick-maturing birds with temperament traits typical of gamebird species. A minimum order of 100 chicks applies, and availability is June only — so plan accordingly.
**Shipping details:** Live birds travel via USPS Priority Mail or Priority Express (typically 2–3 business days), with limited regional door-to-door delivery in parts of the Midwest. Hatch and ship dates may shift with weather or safe-shipping conditions. Live Arrival and 48-Hour Livability are guaranteed — report any concerns by phone within 48 hours of arrival.
Changes or cancellations must be made by 12:00 PM Central the Friday before scheduled delivery. All live-animal sales are final once fulfillment is booked.
