Very full, globe-shaped blooms in deep pink, up to five inches across and carrying roughly eighty petals. The form is peony-style — heavily ruffled, cupped, opening slowly from a rounded bud. The fragrance is strong and classically old-rose with a citrus edge, and it is one of the more reliably scented large-flowered roses in cultivation.

The plant is compact and upright, three to four feet tall and two to three feet wide, with glossy foliage and good disease resistance. It repeats in flushes through the season. Stems are long and strong enough for cutting, with a vase life of six to eight days.

Plant in full sun with free-draining soil and water deeply and consistently — roses reward regularity more than volume. Feed with well-rotted rabbit, composted chicken or horse manure in early spring and again after the first flush.

Roses are not toxic to cats, dogs or people, and the open blooms are worked by bees, hoverflies and lacewings through the season.
