📦 Shipping schedulePeonies ship fall only, September through November, while fully dormant and bare root — this is the only window we ship. Fall planting lets roots establish before winter for strong spring bloom. Local pickup is available upon request. Your cart and order confirmation will identify the shipping schedule for each item. Ready-to-ship and seasonal-shipping items may be split into separate orders.
🌱 Live plant noticePlants are living, perishable goods and may arrive dormant or experience normal transit stress — leaf drop, yellowing, temporary wilting, cosmetic damage, or soil displacement. These conditions do not necessarily mean a plant is dead.
📄 All sales finalAll sales are final except where a seller expressly states otherwise in the individual listing, a verified dead-on-arrival claim qualifies under the Live Plant Policy, or a refund is required by applicable law.

There’s something quietly extraordinary about a peony that rewards your patience with dinner-plate blooms in pale, creamy yellow — and Primevere (*Paeonia lactiflora* ‘Primevere’) is exactly that kind of long-term garden relationship.

Plant her in full sun to part shade in fertile, well-drained soil, and she’ll settle in and strengthen year after year, eventually reaching 24–36 inches tall and wide. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–8, this herbaceous peony is remarkably cold-tolerant and genuinely low-maintenance once established. The only rules worth remembering: don’t bury the eyes too deep when planting, and cut the foliage back after the first hard frost in fall.

Late spring brings large, fragrant blooms that move beautifully in a vase — Primevere is a standout among long-blooming herbaceous peonies for cutting gardens and classic mixed borders alike.

🍂 Shipping & planting window

Peonies ship in fall (September–November) when fully dormant and bare root.

Fall planting gives roots a full season to establish in warm soil before winter. Cold stratification triggers strong, healthy spring growth and reliable bloom production. Spring-shipped peonies experience root damage during active growth, transplant shock during their bloom cycle, and often lose an entire growing season.
