There’s a reason gardeners pass peonies down through generations — and Bowl of Cream (*Paeonia lactiflora* ‘Bowl of Cream’) is exactly the kind you’d want to inherit. Each bloom unfurls into a generous, ivory-white double flower with the softest powdery fragrance, the kind that drifts toward you before you even reach for the stem.
This long-lived herbaceous peony grows 24–36 inches tall and wide, settling into your border like it owns the place — because eventually, it will. Clumps actually improve with age, flowering more abundantly each season. Plant in full to part sun in fertile, well-drained soil, and take care not to bury the eyes too deeply. Cut stems back after the first frost in fall. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–8, it’s an excellent choice for Pacific Northwest gardens and cold-climate growers alike.
A reliable late-spring to early-summer bloomer and a standout cut flower, Bowl of Cream rewards patience with decades of beauty.
Available for Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 shipping — same price either way.
🍂 Shipping & planting window
Peonies ship in fall (September–November) when fully dormant and bare root. This is the only window we ship.
Fall planting gives roots a full season to establish in warm soil before winter. Cold stratification triggers strong, healthy spring growth and reliable bloom production. Spring-shipped peonies experience root damage during active growth, transplant shock during their bloom cycle, and often lose an entire growing season.
