There’s something magnificent about a tree peony that opens blossoms the size of a small plate — and Crimson Summit delivers exactly that. Each semi-double bloom unfurls to a generous 6.7 inches across, its petals catching the light in layers of deep crimson.
You’ll receive a dormant bareroot plant, 2–3 years old with 2–3 established branches, arriving 10–25 inches tall. Plant it in fertile, well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH, in partial shade with protection from harsh afternoon sun. Water moderately during establishment — consistently moist, never waterlogged. In colder climates, a light layer of mulch after planting is all the winter protection this remarkably hardy deciduous shrub typically needs. Expect plants to reach around 3 feet tall with their first spring flush of growth. Hardy in USDA zones 4–9.
