There is something magnificent about a tree peony that blooms the size of a salad plate, and Chrysanthemum Moon — known in Chinese as Zi Ju Ban Yue — delivers exactly that. Its silvery-lavender flowers open to nearly 7 inches across, with layered petals that catch morning light like folded silk.
You’ll receive a dormant bare-root plant, 2–3 years old with 2–3 branches, shipped at 10–25 inches tall. With a full season in the ground, expect plants to reach around 3 feet by spring. Rockii tree peonies are reliably cold-hardy across USDA zones 4–9, deciduous, and genuinely long-lived — these are decades-long garden companions.
Plant in partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil that leans neutral to slightly alkaline. Water moderately during establishment, keeping soil evenly moist but never soggy. In colder climates, a light layer of mulch through winter protects the crown without smothering it.
Peonies ship bare-root in fall (September–November) — the only window we offer — so roots establish deeply before spring bloom.
🍂 Shipping & planting window
Peonies ship in fall (September–November) when fully dormant and bare root.
Fall planting gives roots a full season to establish in warm soil before winter. Cold stratification triggers strong, healthy spring growth and reliable bloom production. Spring-shipped peonies experience root damage during active growth, transplant shock during their bloom cycle, and often lose an entire growing season.
This listing is for 50 plants at $55 per plant. A minimum of 100 LY Nursery tree peony plants is required per order. Shipping is included. Ships directly from the grower farm in China.
