There’s something quietly theatrical about watching Lorelei open — those first saturated coral-pink petals slowly warming to soft apricot as each bloom matures, so no two flowers on the same plant look quite alike at once.
A hybrid peony (Paeonia hybrid ‘Lorelei’) bred for both beauty and performance, Lorelei produces large, fully double blooms in a layered mix of apricot, salmon, and blush pink. Its light, pleasant fragrance carries well, and the naturally strong stems — reaching about 35 inches — hold up beautifully in a vase without flopping in the garden. Unlike many peonies, Lorelei can reward you with blooms in its very first season.
Plant in full sun with well-draining soil, water deeply but infrequently once established, and expect it to thrive in temperate climates like the Pacific Northwest. Ships as bareroot stock in fall, with approximately 5 or more eyes depending on current inventory.
A peony worth waiting for — and then some.
🍂 Shipping & planting window
Peonies ship in fall (September–November) when fully dormant and bare root. This is the only window we ship.
Fall planting gives roots a full season to establish in warm soil before winter. Cold stratification triggers strong, healthy spring growth and reliable bloom production. Spring-shipped peonies experience root damage during active growth, transplant shock during their bloom cycle, and often lose an entire growing season.
