There’s something theatrical about a peony that opens pure white with a breath of violet at its heart — and White Veil (Yu Lou Cang Jiao) delivers exactly that. Each semi-double bloom stretches nearly seven inches across, with petals that seem to glow in dappled afternoon light.
As a Rockii tree peony, this is a genuinely long-lived shrub — woody-stemmed, deciduous, and extraordinarily cold-hardy through USDA zones 4–9. Your bareroot plant arrives 2–3 years old with 2–3 established branches, typically 10–25 inches tall at shipping. Expect it to reach around three feet by its first spring flush.
Plant it in partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil that leans neutral to slightly alkaline. Water moderately during establishment — consistently moist, never waterlogged. In colder areas, a light layer of mulch through winter goes a long way.
Fall is the only window we ship, and for good reason: dormant bareroot planting gives roots time to settle before winter, priming White Veil for its first reliable bloom.

🍂 Shipping & planting window
Peonies ship in fall (September–November) when fully dormant and bare root.
Fall planting gives roots a full season to establish in warm soil before winter. Cold stratification triggers strong, healthy spring growth and reliable bloom production. Spring-shipped peonies experience root damage during active growth, transplant shock during their bloom cycle, and often lose an entire growing season.
This listing is for 50 plants at $55 per plant. A minimum of 100 LY Nursery tree peony plants is required per order. Shipping is included. Ships directly from the grower farm in China.
