Taolesi

Taolesi Rose (Dorothy Rose: Pink-Yellow-to-White Gradient Blooms with Ruffled Tips) A beloved Chinese cut rose also known as Leyou, Taolesi, or Dorothy, Taolesi stands out with its dramatic color shift, pointed ruffled petals, and abundant layers—all on a sturdy 90 cm frame. The 6–10 cm blooms open in a classic cup shape: deep magenta outer petals wrap around tender canary – yellow centers. As they mature, the yellow softens to pale pink, then fades to nearly white in the final stage, creating a romantic, ever – changing display that feels like a floral sunset. The pointed petals with subtle ruffled edges add texture and elegance, while the dense layering gives each bloom a lush, full look—perfect for bouquets, weddings, or statement centerpieces. Growing to 90 cm tall with strong, straight stems ideal for cutting, Taolesi blooms profusely from spring to fall. Multiple color stages can coexist on one plant, turning your garden or vase into a dynamic palette of pink, yellow, and white. The cup – to – open form transitions gracefully, and the ruffled petal tips bring a playful yet refined touch. Best of all, it’s completely unscented—safe for scent – sensitive individuals and ideal for bedrooms, offices, or event spaces where strong fragrances are unwelcome. The stems are sturdy enough to hold large blooms without staking, and the blooms retain their shape well in arrangements. For optimal growth, plant in full sun (6+ hours daily) and well – drained, fertile soil to boost color vibrancy and stem strength. Light pruning in late winter (cut back to 3–5 healthy buds per stem) and regular deadheading promote continuous flushes. Water deeply 1–2 times weekly, and feed with a phosphorus – rich fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season to maximize flower production. To slow the final fade to white and extend the pink – yellow phase, provide partial afternoon shade in hot climates—this helps preserve the gradient longer. This Chinese – bred gem blends color magic, layered beauty, and versatile charm, adding timeless elegance to any space.
