There’s something theatrical about a peony that names itself so boldly — and Scrumdidlyumptious (*Paeonia* Itoh hybrid) earns every syllable. When those enormous, richly colored blooms open in late spring, you’ll understand the confidence.
Itoh peonies are the best of both worlds: they carry the extravagant flower size of peonies on the sturdy, cold-hardy frame of an herbaceous peony. Strong stems hold blooms upright without staking — a genuine relief in a cutting garden or mixed border. Expect a well-mannered clump reaching 24–36 inches tall and 30–48 inches wide.
Give it full sun to part sun, rich and well-drained soil, and consistent moisture during active growth. Hardy in USDA zones 3–8. After frost, cut stems to the ground — that’s it.
