Hongyi Meiren

Hongyi Meiren Rose (2022 Binfen Cut Rose: Striped Red Blooms with Rain-Resistant Petals) Bred by Binfen Roses and released in 2022, Hongyi Meiren is a distinctive cut rose that stands out with its striking red petals striped with delicate white accents, thick firm blooms that resist rain damage, a subtle fragrance, and a reliable 7–10 day vase life—boasting 8–10 cm flowers, an upright 80 cm growth habit, and a natural open form that evolves into a full, flat bloom, perfect for bold bouquets, garden borders, or low-fuss floral displays that thrive in variable weather. Growing 80 cm tall with strong, straight stems, it’s an ideal cut rose for both home gardeners and floral designers. The star attraction is its unique striped pattern—vibrant red petals dotted with faint white streaks, resembling a hand-painted masterpiece that adds artistic charm to any arrangement. Its thick, substantial petals are a standout feature: unlike delicate varieties that wilt or bruise in rain, these hold their shape beautifully even after downpours, retaining freshness and structure. The blooms start with a loose, semi-full form and naturally open wide (often called “flat bloom” in gardening terms), while a subtle, pleasant fragrance adds gentle appeal without overwhelming. For optimal growth, plant Hongyi Meiren in full sun (6+ hours daily) and well-drained, fertile soil to enhance color vibrancy and stem strength. Light pruning in late winter (cut back to 3–5 healthy buds per stem) and regular deadheading encourage continuous blooms. Water deeply 1–2 times weekly, and feed with a phosphorus-rich rose fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season to support bloom production. To manage the “flat bloom” shape, provide partial afternoon shade in hot climates—this helps slow excessive opening while preserving the striped color. The occasional “green nub” (a natural floral quirk) can be trimmed if preferred, or embraced as part of its unique character. This Chinese-bred gem blends bold color, weather resilience, and artistic stripes, turning every bunch into a durable, eye-catching display.
