Step into the garden and catch the first drift of sweet fragrance — that’s Hemstitched Rebloom Iris (*Iris germanica*) announcing itself before you’ve even spotted the blooms. This bearded iris earns its place in your border with upright flower stalks and crisp sword-like foliage that look intentional all season long, not just when it’s flowering.

Plant rhizomes in full sun and very well-drained soil, setting the top of each rhizome just at the soil surface so it can bask in warmth. Once established, it handles summer heat and dry spells with ease — hardy through USDA zones 3–9, growing 24–36 inches tall and spreading 18–24 inches wide. Expect a generous late-spring bloom, with the possibility of a second flush in late summer to early fall. Remove spent stalks after each flush to keep things tidy.

A reliable reblooming bearded iris with sweet fragrance for Pacific Northwest cutting gardens and perennial borders — Hemstitched rewards patience with two seasons of beauty.
