There’s something remarkable about the Dominique — America’s oldest recognized chicken breed, and one that earns its place in any thoughtful backyard flock. Calm and steady by nature, Dominiques are a pleasure to keep: they’re gentle with children, easy on the nerves, and reliably productive layers of light brown eggs. If you’re drawn to heritage breeds with genuine history behind them, this is a bird worth knowing.
Dominique chicks are hatchery-sourced and available February through early July. Order minimums vary by month: 25 chicks January–March, 15 in April, and 6 May–September; Webster City hatchery pickup requires a minimum of 6. Birds ship via USPS Priority Mail or Priority Express (typically 2–3 business days), with limited Midwest door-to-door delivery available.
Live Arrival and 48-Hour Livability guaranteed — report any concerns by phone within 48 hours of arrival. Changes or cancellations must be made by 12:00 PM Central the Friday before your scheduled delivery. A proper brooder setup is required before your chicks arrive. All live-animal sales are final.
