Buff Silkie Bantam

Soft as a cloud and surprisingly calm in your hands, the Buff Silkie Bantam is one of the most distinctive small breeds you can welcome into a backyard flock. Their signature fluffy plumage, dark skin, and five-toed feet set them apart visually, while their exceptionally gentle, docile temperament makes them a natural fit for families, mixed flocks, and breeding programs alike. Hens lay cream to tinted eggs and are known for going broody — a useful trait if you’re interested in natural hatching. As an uncommon breed, they’re worth planning ahead for.

Available April through early August from a hatchery source. Bantam minimum is 15 chicks (10 for Webster City pickup). Birds ship via USPS Priority Mail or Priority Express — typically 2–3 business days — with limited Midwest door-to-door delivery available. Different poultry types ship separately, each must meet its own minimum. A proper brooder must be ready before arrival. Live Arrival and 48-Hour Livability guarantee applies; report any concerns by phone within 48 hours. Changes or cancellations must be made by 12:00 PM Central the Friday before delivery. All live-animal sales are final once fulfillment is booked.
