📦 Shipping schedulePeonies ship fall only, September through November, while fully dormant and bare root — this is the only window we ship. Fall planting lets roots establish before winter for strong spring bloom. Local pickup is available upon request. Your cart and order confirmation will identify the shipping schedule for each item. Ready-to-ship and seasonal-shipping items may be split into separate orders.
🌱 Live plant noticePlants are living, perishable goods and may arrive dormant or experience normal transit stress — leaf drop, yellowing, temporary wilting, cosmetic damage, or soil displacement. These conditions do not necessarily mean a plant is dead.
📄 All sales finalAll sales are final except where a seller expressly states otherwise in the individual listing, a verified dead-on-arrival claim qualifies under the Live Plant Policy, or a refund is required by applicable law.
💳 Refund administrative chargeRefunds are issued less a non-refundable administrative charge of 3.5% + $0.80 on the original transaction. This covers payment processing and tax calculation fees retained by our providers, plus the administrative cost of processing the refund. Refunds required by law, and verified dead-on-arrival claims under the Live Plant Policy, are refunded in full.

Few flowers do vertical quite like a hollyhock. This one opens in a soft peachy pink washed with tan — a quieter, more sophisticated colour than the usual garden reds and yellows, and one that reads beautifully against a fence line or a weathered wall.

The blooms are fully double and crepe-textured, roughly three to five inches across, carried singly up tall straight stalks that reach five to six feet. Flowering runs from summer into early autumn, so the display holds long after the early perennials have finished.

In the garden

  • Back borders, foundation plantings, cottage gardens and cutting beds
  • Full sun, in fertile soil that stays evenly moist but drains freely
  • Draws butterflies and hummingbirds through the second half of the season
  • Deer tend to leave it alone
  • Juglone tolerant — one of the few perennials that will grow near a black walnut

Planting your bare roots

Dig a hole wide enough to take the roots without bending them. Set the crown just below soil level, work the soil back around the roots, firm it down and water thoroughly. Space plants twelve to eighteen inches apart. Cut spent flower stalks back in late autumn or in early spring before new growth starts.

Tall stems in an exposed spot appreciate a stake or a wall at their back.
