As above, in blue-grey. Frizzle is a feather gene rather than a breed — each feather curls outward instead of lying flat. Bantam Cochin type: small, round, heavily feathered legs, very docile.
Four months old, raised free-range on grass with certified organic feed always available, foraging bugs and berries. No confinement, no medicated starter, no antibiotics.
KEEPING THEM. Frizzled feathering sheds rain and holds warmth poorly, so a dry draft-free coop matters through a Northwest winter. Poor fliers and easy for predators to catch, so secure runs matter. Bantam hens lay small cream-tinted eggs, roughly three to four a week.
IF YOU PLAN TO BREED. Never pair frizzle to frizzle — doubling the gene produces brittle, broken feathering and real health problems. Frizzle to smooth-feathered is the correct cross.
STRAIGHT RUN — NOT SEXED. Be prepared for the possibility of a cockerel. Roosters are prohibited in Bellevue and most surrounding cities; please confirm your local ordinance before purchase. We will take a cockerel back if you cannot keep him.
LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. Live birds are not shipped. Collection arranged in person after purchase. Please bring an appropriate carrier.
