There’s something special about a breed this productive and this uncommon sharing space in your backyard flock. The Red Leghorn is an active, alert bird with a quick intelligence you’ll notice from the first week in the brooder — always the first to investigate, always watching. Like all Leghorns, she’s built for efficiency, laying white eggs with a consistency that makes her a genuine workhorse for homesteads, small farms, and breeding programs focused on rare genetics.
Availability runs February through early July. Hatchery minimums are 25 chicks (January–March), 15 in April, and 6 from May onward; Webster City hatchery pickup minimum is 6. Birds ship via USPS Priority Mail or Priority Express (typically 2–3 business days), with limited Midwest door-to-door delivery available. Different poultry types ship separately and must each meet their own minimums. Live Arrival and 48-Hour Livability guaranteed — report any concerns by phone within 48 hours of arrival. Changes or cancellations must be made by noon Central on the Friday before your scheduled delivery. A proper brooder setup should be ready before your chicks arrive.
